I read somewhere that first drafts are like scooping sand into a bucket, so later on you can build sand castles. Thank-you Instagram. That helped so much. Many of you know I have been working on my series of novels for #deliciousDecember which I am extremely excited about. It’s my opportunity to challenge that creative part of myself which sees the blank page and is absolutely horrified. There’s nothing more frustrating than a barren page, or for me a pen which bears no fruit. This morning I endured another dose of #fiftyshadesofgrey, wow that film is sinfully hot. Would have liked to watch it with some butterscotch popcorn and some Bailey’s😇,but enjoyed it none the less. I love the sexual tension and the chemistry between the two characters. What I love more though is the marketing behind fifty shades, how it was publicised and the fact that it was vanity publishing. I believe in this new age of evolving digital technology and independent authors there is much to learn.
Digital marketing is the opportunity to sell a service and promote a product to a company that can bring in revenue or build a network. Digital marketing is the application of the internet,social media and platforms to help build a brand or a network in order to bring something to market, or bring in revenue for a business, individual, charity, or social enterprise. Wherever there are leads ,hashtags, backlinks, or promotions we say the brand is trying to market themselves. Trying to build their own platform or brand in order to bring in revenue and create access within the market.

With good marketing, you can build a platform for yourself and your brand, collaborate with other companies, and earn commissions offering advertising

Social proof gives you validity as an expert in your field, for example someone who is a blogger known for their specialist knowledge of philanthropy, and philanthropical events, may want to set themselves up on the key platforms (quora,twitter,facebook,reddit,Instagram,pinterest,linkedin etc) with a blog discussing key philanthropical events internationally, how to access them and how to network and negotiate within that network. Okay lovely people another way to monetise your blog or website is to produce high quality content to build engagement. The articles you produce or the listicles for some can make or break your site. What are the trending topics in your niche, what is your unique angle? How can you spin it to engage and engrosse your audience. Make sure content is helpful, full of facts and busy with ideas that will help your audience, and build a loyal following.
Tell jokes, produce inspirational quotes, and insights, utilise analytics or tell your own personal experiences. Encourage your audience to share and like, Create a sense of community by mentioning regular members who visit your site and thank them for their loyalty, or mention some of the good work their doing. Offer profile to members and have an email capture form.
put in topics that open your platform, forum, website or page for discussion. Utilise your social media and actively tag or mention, use your social listening sites like Quora, reddit, twitter, and post 4-6 times daily to increase engagement via an iphone or a tablet. Post in groups, have a facebook page, use facebook live for video, do youtube videos, and instagram videos regularly.
Pay attention to search engine optimisation, key in the right hashtags and most of all enjoy and be patient.
